At this point, there's no debating that Law Roach is probably one of the most famous celebrity stylists of all time.

Law, who describes himself as an "image architect," is best known for his longtime partnership with Zendaya. However, he's also created incredible looks for other celebs like Sir Lewis Hamilton, Celine Dion, Bella Hadid, Megan Thee Stallion, Tom Holland, and Hunter Schafer, just to name a few.

Now, he's got a new celebrity client on his books — and something tells me you miiiight have heard of her.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, Kim Kardashian attended the opening celebration for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles, wearing an archival black-and-gold floral sequin Yves Saint Laurent gown designed by Tom Ford in 2004.

Soon after she hit the red carpet, Law took to social media to reveal that he styled the sleek look. "New client 💕," he wrote on X, alongside footage of Kim in the dress.

Kim was famously styled by her ex-husband, Kanye West, before and throughout their marriage. He was credited for "revolutionizing" her image, and even continued to style her for months after she filed for divorce in 2021.

Eventually, Kanye and Kim parted ways as fashion collaborators — a process Kim later described as "psychologically hard" — and she soon began working with stylist Danielle Levi.

Since the Kimye days, Kim's style has evolved massively. Now, fashion lovers are "intrigued" to see what the Law Era is going to look like.

And amid the discussion, people are reflecting on the history between Law and Kim — and the fact that he was accused of shading her just last year. "I will forever be amazed by their ability to forgive and forget and act like nothing ever happened," one Reddit user wrote in response to the news. "Law was literally throwing shade at her and her family just last year in a red carpet interview."

Now, if you're unsure what this is referring to, let me remind you. Last October, Law raised eyebrows with his reaction to the viral Skims merkins.

When asked about the pubic-hair thongs on the red carpet at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Oct. 15, Law decided to give his take on the Kardashian family's broader strategy across business and pop culture.

"I heard about that," he told Entertainment Tonight. "Let me tell you something about Kim Kardashian, all the Kardashians. I think they really understand pop culture, and I think that’s what makes them successful because we are all waiting to buy something from them."

"Maybe they haven’t invented it yet, but I truly believe that they will," he continued. "And when they do, we’ll all buy it. And I think that’s brilliant."

Though it seems unproblematic at first glance, people REALLY read into these comments at the time. The clip of Law on the red carpet racked up over 18 million views on X alone, with fans speculating that his response was actually a thinly veiled insult to the Kardashian machine.

"He’s so seasoned in a slick insult wrapped in media training. You blink and you’ll miss it," read one X post with over 107,000 likes. "he said it’s a mess & said when they release something good, we will buy it," another popular post suggested.

"the interpretations of this clip are too funny because i actually think he’s speaking earnestly here," echoed someone else.

What's more, if you watch the full ET interview, Law actually goes on to effusively praise the Kardashians and Jenners, saying: "What a lot of people don’t understand about that family — those girls, including Kris, the mom — are just really nice people."

"I’ve had the opportunity to work with a few of them. And they are just nice people," he added.

I think if we take that second part of the clip into context, we can probably assume that Law wasn't intending to be messy. And even if he was shading the Kardashians, people have highlighted that Kim's never been one to shy away from controversy.

"Kim lowkey loves that tho," one user wrote on Reddit amid all the discussion about the new stylist duo. "She’s built a brand on proving people wrong."
