The Denver Broncos are currently 3-2 on the season, but there are some massive questions about this team, and specifically on the offensive side of the ball.
Sean Payton already took over play-calling, which didn't help in Week 5. Now, with one card pulled for how to improve the offense, the attention naturally shifts towards quarterback Bo Nix, who's struggling to begin the season.
There's enough worry with Nix right now that ESPN's Dan Graziano is speculating that the Broncos could make a QB change at some point this season. That's how bad things are going: an ESPN analyst believes Nix being benched isn't totally impossible.
ESPN insider speculates Broncos could bench Bo Nix
"And this is only speculative, but I wonder how long the Broncos will go with Bo Nix if he doesn't start playing better," Graziano writes. "They made the playcaller change for Week 5, and it didn't seem to work, so you start to wonder if the problem is the plays or the player."
Denver is 3-2, and they're in the hunt for the AFC West and an AFC Wild Card spot. However, enough questions are mounting about Nix's play that a change isn't totally inconceivable.
So far this season, Nix has 942 passing yards (21st in the NFL) with six passing touchdowns, three interceptions, and a 41.5 QBR (24th).
He's not been horrible, but Nix is clearly playing like a bottom-half-of-the-NFL QB through five weeks so far. For a Super Bowl contender, that's not good enough.

Denver needs Nix to start playing better. But if he continues to struggle and the Broncos are looking at a losing record at some point later in the year, a change is not totally out of the question.
Graziano is speculating, but it's noteworthy nonetheless. Behind Nix in the QB room are Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger. But if they decide to bench Nix, maybe they trade for Jacoby Brissett or some other veteran QB who can be a game manager for the Broncos.
With their elite defense, the Broncos shouldn't need a superstar QB to win it all this year. But someone who can make the right throws, protect the football, and raise the floor of this offense would make sense to add.
As much as that should be Nix this season, his struggles have opened the door for Denver to make a change. It's incredibly unlikely, but it's not something fans should totally write off from happening just yet.
