College athletes and pro players and leagues are urging their fans to vote on Election Day.
The NBA will not have games on Tuesday, instead urging its fans to spend the time voting. All 30 teams were scheduled to play on Monday night, clearing the way for their fans to participate in the mid-term elections. In a preseason release, the league said it "will encourage fans and the broader NBA community to make a plan to vote and to participate in the civic process."
The league's "Get in the Game. Vote" initiative encourages participation and has a website with information that helps voters learn where to go. Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jared McCain participated in a video with his roommates before Halloween trying to encourage action.
There’s nothing spookier than not voting. 👻🗳️ Just ask Jared McCain and his roommates. From the roommate meeting to the ballot box, make your voice heard. Make your voting game plan at https://t.co/S6qDE7mU5w. https://t.co/54Us2CXrdA
— NBA (@NBA) October 31, 2026The Team is a non-profit behind "All Vote No Play" day. The Team is urging college athletes to rally their teammates and campuses to be active on Tuesday. Football players Donte West of Penn and Jefferson Adam of Eastern Michigan are Civic Captains for The Team, responsible for organizing nonpartisan voter registration and participation efforts. The Team's site includes a voter guide.
Stanford has made Election Day a university-wide academic holiday and has included an undisclosed athlete-led “All Vote, No Play” event in its programming.
"Rally the Vote," founded by the NBA’s Sacramento Kings in partnership with "When We All Vote," is calling on sports fans to get involved. The Kings' initiative has the backing of sports leagues, players unions, organizations, and teams from the NBA, WNBA, NFL, MLS, NWSL, MLB, US Soccer, USL, PWHL, among others. When We All Vote offers a voter guide with instructions.
The ongoing "NFL Votes" initiative promotes nonpartisan voter education, registration and turnout. It was founded in 2020 as a joint effort between the NFL and NFL Players Association. The Philadelphia Eagles, for example, have a page that helps fans know where to vote in Pennsylvania and surrounding states.
