The Arizona Diamondbacks made a strong push for the third and final NL Wild Card spot.
A six-game winning streak put them in serious contention to take the spot from the Philadelphia Phillies, but they fell short.
Following the season, reports indicated that it was possible the D-Backs would part ways with longtime manager Torey Lovullo.
Those rumors can now be put to bed.
"Torey Lovullo will return as Diamondbacks manager," Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reported on X. "The club will hold a press conference later today. "
Lovullo's new contract is a two-year deal, per Piecoro.
"Per a source, Lovullo gets a two-year deal, which lines up contractually with GM Mike Hazen."
Lovullo's first year as Arizona's manager was in 2017. Since then, the D-Backs have made two postseason appearances.

In 2017, they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS. Then, of course, there was a trip to the World Series in 2023, where they lost to the Texas Rangers in five games.
Under Lovullo, the D-Backs have produced a winning record in six of his 10 seasons at the helm.
Their 86-76 regular season record in 2026 was respectable but not enough to clinch a postseason berth.
