Nelly is reminiscing about his moment on stage with Taylor Swift for her Speak Now tour and the unique way the singer paid him.

The rapper and his wife, R&B singer Ashanti, were guests on The Breakfast Club on Wednesday, Oct. 28, when he recounted his time working with Swift and the unique way she paid him.

“[She] called me one night, just out of the blue, and said, ‘Yo Nelly, listen, me and my friends, we made a routine to ‘Hot in Herre’ last night. I want to ask you a really big favor,’” he recalled.

Swift ended up asking Nelly to be a surprise guest on her 2011 tour and even offered a private jet and paid him $50,000 for his set. He also asked the singer that he wanted his payment to be delivered specifically: in a McDonald’s bag.

“She said, ‘But what I will do, I will send my plane, get you a room and all of that. We only have, like, $50,000’... I said, ‘Can you put that in a McDonald’s bag?’ I woulda [done] it for free!” Nelly said. “[She] sent the G5 [jet]... picked up me and the kids, flew us down to Houston… Her father, [mutual friend] Robert comes out, tosses me a McDonald’s bag. $50,000.”

Nelly ended up hitting the stage at the Houston tour stop, and the two performed his hit “Just a Dream” together.

Nelly and Ashanti also scored invites to Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding over the summer and recently shared their experiences.

“It was amazing!” Ashanti said of the wedding on Good Day New York earlier this month. “It looked so beautiful inside, like it was like a real garden. Like, it was so magical. It was beautiful.”

Swift and Kelce got married on July 3 at Madison Square Garden. Nelly and Ashanti -- who tied the knot back in December 2023 -- were among several other A-list celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Tom Brady, Simone Biles, Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, and more.

The "Love Story" singer has yet to speak publicly about her wedding, but Kelce has declared the wedding to be "the best night of my life."
