The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys are coming up on an NFC showdown on Sunday, and considering that edge rusher Micah Parsons used to play for Dallas, you'd think he would want to be on the field. But he won't be there, as he continues to heal after tearing his ACL and meniscus last season.
Parsons actually hasn't been back to practice since last season's injury and is still on the physically unable to perform list.
Parsons addressed the concern on the latest episode of his podcast, "The Edge with Micah Parsons," out this week.
Micah Parsons explains why he's taking his time returning
"The biggest thing that people worried about with me, they're like, 'Man, why ain't he back yet?'" Parsons said. "If the Super Bowl was this week, I'm playing in the Super Bowl. But it's just about me making sure I have all the small things fixed first."
He also addressed that it's not just the ACL that he's dealing with.
"What a lot of people don't figure out is it's not just the ACL. It's like, why did the ACL happen? What was weak?" he says. "Because it all works together. It's a chain. And throughout the history of ACL, they notice if you come back early, there tends to be an overcompensation injury on the other side."
So, he wants to avoid coming back too soon and aggravating the entire injury issue.
"It's like, what's the point of getting me back for four weeks and then next thing you know, my groin [is] bothering me," he said.
So, the Cowboys won't get to see their former player taking shots at them on the field on Sunday, and the Packers will be without their star edge rusher for yet another game. No word on when Parsons will return.
