Saints finally get good injury news on Jordyn Tyson amid lengthy IR stint

The New Orleans Saints are having a rough 2026 season, and heading into their Week 8 bye, the Saints are in last place in the NFC South, tied at 2-5 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While they might not be out of the divisional race just yet, the Saints really need things to turn around soon, or else this season will end in disappointment. Fortunately, during their bye week, the Saints got some great news on a key injured player.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Jordyn Tyson, the team's first-round rookie wide receiver who's been on injured reserve for the entire season thus far, is getting very close to returning. There's even a chance he's good to go for Week 9.

Saints finally get good news on rookie WR Jordyn Tyson

"Saints first-pick Jordyn Tyson could return from the hamstring injury that has sidelined him as early as next week vs. the Browns, per sources," Schefter reports. "But even if it's not then, he is not far away from playing."

The Saints are getting close to seeing their first-round, No. 8 overall rookie wide receiver make his NFL debut. He suffered a hamstring injury leading up to the regular season, causing him to land on IR.

He's since missed seven games, and with the Week 8 bye giving the Saints an early-season week off, it makes sense that Tyson missed those first seven weeks.

Rushing him back before the bye would've made no sense, especially for a team that's likely still trying to climb out of the bottom of the NFC.

But now, Tyson is closing in on a return to action, which would make for his NFL debut the moment he's active and steps on the field for New Orleans.

Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele have been great in his absence, but getting Tyson back would be huge for the Saints this season. Even if they don't make the playoffs, seeing what Tyson can offer is still very important to the Saints.

While it's too soon to tell if Tyson will be good to go for Week 9, his status will be one to monitor this upcoming week, as his chances of returning from IR are better than ever.
