Sophie Cunningham brings leopard-print look to Fever’s playoff opener against Aces

Sophie Cunningham did not save a quiet arrival for the playoffs.

The Indiana Fever guard walked into Michelob ULTRA Arena on Sunday wearing a long leopard-print jacket with matching shorts and a black top. The coordinated look stood out as Indiana prepared to face the Las Vegas Aces in Game 1 of their first-round WNBA playoff series.

Athlete Vanity shared photos of Cunningham’s arrival, giving fans another look at a player whose game-day outfits have become part of the Fever’s pregame routine. This one felt suited to the occasion. The matching print made an immediate impression, while the black top kept the outfit centered on the jacket and shorts.

The setting gave the photos added weight. Indiana entered the postseason as the No. 6 seed and drew the defending champion Aces in the opening round. A tunnel arrival can be a light moment before a game, but the basketball awaiting Cunningham and her teammates was anything but routine.

Cunningham’s role against Las Vegas

Cunningham gives the Fever an experienced option off the bench, particularly when they need outside shooting. She finished the regular season shooting better than 40 percent from 3-point range, a useful threat against a Las Vegas team that can put points on the board quickly.

Indiana won two of its three regular-season meetings with the Aces, including both games in Las Vegas. The playoffs offer a different test. Game 1 opened a best-of-three series, leaving little room for a slow start or a prolonged shooting slump.

The Fever also know how painful this matchup can be. Las Vegas eliminated Indiana in a five-game semifinal series last season. Cunningham and Caitlin Clark missed that series with injuries, so Sunday brought a chance for both to take part in a postseason meeting with the Aces.

Time to get on the court

First came the arrival photos. Cunningham’s leopard-print look gave fans something to discuss before tipoff. What she could give Indiana once she changed into her uniform mattered even more.
