Just two weeks into college football season, fans are already being treated with a premiere, top-5 matchup.

On Saturday night, No. 5 Texas and No. 1 Ohio State will play the most highly-anticipated game of Week 2, the second portion of a one-and-one scheduled series after the Buckeyes' defense suffocated Arch Manning to open the 2025 season. Now, Manning will be looking for some revenge — but both teams enter among the early national title contenders.

Texas, ranked No. 1 in the polls to open 2025 before an up-and-down campaign, re-tooled this offseason, surrounding Manning with some elite talent on both sides of the ball. Former Auburn receiver Cam Coleman is now his go-to target, while the Longhorns' defense appears formidable as well, led by third-year pass rusher Colin Simmons.

The Buckeyes, however, were top selection in the preseason and Week 1 AP Poll after coming up short in last year's College Football Playoff. Returning quarterback Julian Sayin, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and more of the nation's best players, after benefitting from the home environment against Texas in 2025, Ohio State will now be tasked with beating a loaded SEC squad on the road.

Saturday's game is one loaded with future NFL talent, with a chance to go down as one of the best matchups of the season.
