The Literal Federal Government Of Canada Used Its Social Media Account To Say Something NO ONE Expected, And Now The Internet Has THOUGHTS

1 week ago 21

I am a proud Canadian. And although I have ZERO interest in watching the upcoming hockey season (or any sports, for that matter), I do watch Heated Rivalry. So, you know that I'm sitting on the EDGE OF MY SEAT, waiting for literally any scrap of information about Season 2. I'm constantly keeping my ears open for insider secrets and lurking online for someone to post an update about filming. It's BREAKING NEWS to me, people!

So, how tickled do you think I was when the literal GOVERNMENT OF CANADA posted an anticipatory post about the new Heated Rivalry season IRL? Well, that and...uh, the upcoming hockey season. Because I guess people still find pleasure in watching sports even when it doesn't lead to romance and sex. Huh!

Three hockey players in action on the ice during a game, wearing protective gear and helmets, with two players appearing excited and engaged

And I know I'm not the only one who is completely GIDDY to see the literal Government of Canada supporting such a beloved and groundbreaking show. Here's what everyone else is saying:

"the most canada tweet to ever canada."

Tweet by Ace, expressing disbelief that a government social media account posted something, with a laughing emoji

"I now identify as Canadian because this is ICONIC" followed by sparkling emoji and kissing face emoji

Tweet by user turbulentGeek expressing pride in being Canadian

Profile photo and tweet saying, "Give Connor Canadian citizenship."

"Two national treasures" with a heart-eyes emoji

But...the pendulum must always swing the other way. It seems that not everyone is super pleased with the government account calling out Heated Rivalry. Here's what some others are saying:

Tweet criticizing a government tweet as unserious, forced, and embarrassing

Comment by user NEBZ~ asks why a graphic content warning isn't applied

Tweet by Gwilliam criticizing the management of an account, joking about Canada's hockey performance

Tweet questions the use of a Canadian government account to promote a TV series, questioning the appropriateness of using taxpayer resources

And finally...

Tweet questioning the importance of a show compared to live hockey games

So, what do you think about the government using its social media to shout out Heated Rivalry? And, more importantly, will you be watching Season 2 in April 2027? And I guess, since we're (kinda) on the topic, what about the hockey season? Are you tuning in for that, too? Tell me all about it in the comments.
