Who is Joe Fagnano? Meet Ravens undrafted QB replacing injured Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley

On Sunday, the Ravens dealt with an NFL nightmare scenario the day after Halloween: a quarterback room down multiple names.

Not only did Lamar Jackson exit after his first throw of the day against the Bills, but later on, top backup Tyler Huntley also left the game with an injury. Both were ruled out, leaving Baltimore to turn to its emergency third quarterback.

That would be undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, who took the reins of the Ravens' offense in a huge matchup against the Bills.

Here's some background of Fagnano, who may even be forced into future playing time if Jackson and Huntley remain sidelined.

Who is Joe Fagnano?

Fagnano is a 25-year-old undrafted rookie quarterback for the Ravens. The Williamsport, Pennsylvania, native stands at 6-3 and 230 pounds, signing with the Ravens in the aftermath of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Since then, Fagnano has been buried on the depth chart behind Jackson and Huntley, but Sunday presented an opportunity for him to prove himself.

In college, Fagnano emerged as a potential NFL prospect during his 2025 season at UConn, throwing for 28 touchdowns and just one interception. Now, he's suddenly in the NFL spotlight, taking starting snaps for the Ravens.

Joe Fagnano college

Fagnano arrived at the University of Maine as a walk-on, but quickly earned a scholarship and became the team's starter in his first collegiate season in 2019. He would remain at Maine — an FCS program — for four seasons, though he was held to just eight games combined between 2020 and 2021.

After the 2022 season, Fagnano transferred to UConn to become an FBS quarterback, where he would start for the next few years. A shoulder injury ended his 2023 season early, but he fully emerged in 2025 for his best season yet with the Huskies.
