Yankees’ Aaron Boone says something most New York fans won’t agree with

Many New York Yankees fans haven't been too happy with what Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman have done throughout much of their partnership, though it's also important to recognize that not everything is on either of their shoulders.

The Yankees typically have a very talented roster from top to bottom with a chance to win a World Series. Unfortunately, that hasn't happened yet with Boone as the Yankees' skipper.

Boone spoke to the media on Wednesday, offering insight into why his team hasn't done that yet and whether he believes he's the man to help New York do it.

While it's not surprising to hear him say he believes he can manage a World Series team, Boone also understands that any answer he gives won't satisfy this fan base, which is looking for success.

“Yeah. I mean we’ve got to prove that otherwise. Hopefully we are that bully and we’re the best team throughout the season next year and bully our way through the postseason,” Boone said, H/T Heavy. “But until we don’t I don’t have that answer for you. We have to answer that. Until the Brewers or Rays win a World Series they’ve never won a World Series.

“I believe it can happen with me at the helm but any answer I give in defense of that isn’t going to be a great one or satisfy people. I think I’m good at my job, I think we have a lot of the right people in the building, but at the end of the day we haven’t won a championship with me at the helm and you know ultimately that’s what has to happen to satisfy certainly myself. That’s why I’m doing this… haven’t been able to do it yet.”

Coaching in New York isn't easy, but being the skipper for the Yankees is even harder.

A job in New York City already comes with a level of stress, and coaching the most historic organization in Major League Baseball only adds to that.

Boone understands what it takes to win at this level because he played in New York back in the day, but he'll have to prove he can do it as a manager, too.
