Georgia-Ole Mis trash delay, explained: Rebel fans throw debris on field after pass interference call

8 hours ago 9

Things are not going well for the Ole Miss Rebels, who were looking to get a signature win over the Georgia Bulldogs at home. But things went poorly from the start, as the Dawgs got out to a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.

After the referees called a pass interference penalty on Ole Miss, frustrated Rebel fans started throwing trash onto the field in protest. It resulted in a nearly

What happened during Ole Miss vs. Georgia?

Of course, Ole Miss fans were already unhappy with being down 21-0 early in this one. The refs called a pass interference on Jaylon Braxton, who was defending a Gunner Stockton pass intended for Georgia receiver Craig Dandridge. Although Braxton appeared to turn his head and play the ball, the refs threw the flag after the tiniest bit of hand-fighting on the play:

Shortly after the call was made, Ole Miss fans began throwing objects—mostly trash—onto the field:

Ole Miss even displayed a warning message on Vaught Hemingway's video board warning fans:

Aside from Ole Miss being down 21-0, there was another reason Rebel fans were upset at the officials. On the previous drive, Ole Miss had an interception off Stockton taken off the board after the refs flagged the defense for roughing the passer on a questionable call at best. It appeared as though the Ole Miss defender hit Stockton right as he was throwing the ball:

Georgia added insult to injury by scoring yet another touchdown to go up 28-0 before halftime.

Of course, we have seen this happen in a college football game before, one involving Ole Miss. One of the most infamous was during a 2021 Tennessee game between the Vols and Ole Miss. The game was delayed nearly 20 minutes as Vol fans pelted trash, golf balls and even mustard bottles on the field.

It happened again in 2024 during a game between Alabama and LSU.

Depending on how the rest of the Ole Miss game goes, we'll see if any other fan behavior like this continues.
